March 15, 2008 - STATE FINAL
Newark 65 Lakewood St. Edward 52
Congratulations to the Newark Wildcats Basketball Program on their 2008 DI Boys Basketball State Title! Newark held the lead most of the game by staying aggressive. By the third quarter St. Edward was tired and the Wildcats were able to score easily inside. The Wildcats wrapped up the season with their 14th consecutive win to bring their record to 24-4 and bring home the first State Title in 65 years.

Scoring: Avery 33 points. Kopp 7 points. McCoy 4 points. Dennison 8 points. Watson 10 points. Huffman 3 points.

March 14, 2008 - STATE SEMIFINAL
Newark 63 Toledo Whitmer 44
Newark was able to control the tempo of the game by grabbing an early lead and forcing Toledo Whitmer to play the Wildcat way. The Panthers rallied for a comeback in the 4th quarter cutting a 21 point deficit in half but that was as close as they would come for the final five minutes of the game. Cody Dennison led the charge with a career high 22 points, 5 boards and 4 assists.'

Scoring: Avery 16 points. Watson 13 points. Kopp 5 points. McCoy 2 points. Dennison 22 points. Kilday 2 points. O'Keefe 3 points.

March 9, 2008 - REGIONAL FINAL
Newark 62 Westerville South 57
The Wildcats extended their winning streak to twelve in a 62-57 win over Westerville South for the DI Regional Title! Free throw shooting was the key to keeping the game close. The Cats had a shaky start to the game going two of seven from the charity stripe but got in rhythm and capped off the game hitting fifteen straight. Then Greg Avery sealed the deal late in the fourth with a dunk sending the fans at the Coliseum into a frenzy and sending the Cats to the State Semifinals.

Scoring: Avery 20 points. Dennison 14 points. Watson 12 points. McCoy 8 points. O'Keefe 5 points. Huffman 3 points.

March 5, 2008 - REGIONAL SEMIFINAL
Newark 70 Trotwood-Madison 64
The Wildcats went on a 20-2 run in the third quarter to overcome a nine point deficit and defeated Trotwood Madison 70-64. This extends the Cats winning streak to 11 and moves them one step closer to the State Title.

Scoring: Avery 10 points. Dennison 21 points. Kopp 11 points. Watson 17 points. McCoy 8 points. O'Keefe 3 points.
